Dr Meta is an orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon who cares for athletes of all ages and activity levels. As a member of the ROCKET group he focuses on Osteochondritis Dissecans and other complex elbow and upper extremity injuries in young athletes, with the goal of keeping them active and safely returning them to the sports they love. He sees patients at TRIA Orthopedics Shakopee and TRIA Orthopedic Center in Bloomington and also cares for patients at Methodist Hospital in Saint Louis Park when hospital based treatment is needed.
His clinical interests include ACL, UCL and Tommy John reconstruction, cartilage restoration, joint arthroscopy, meniscus repair, rotator cuff problems, and shoulder instability. Dr Meta uses a personalized, evidence based approach and favors non operative treatments whenever possible. When surgery is the best option he focuses on careful planning, clear communication, and rehabilitation plans that support a strong and confident return to sport. Patients describe him as professional, approachable, and thorough in explaining each step of care.
Dr Meta remains active in academic medicine through clinical research, journal peer review, and teaching as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Minnesota. His academic work supports ongoing advances in sports medicine and helps refine best practices for ligament reconstruction, cartilage procedures, and care of the injured athlete.
He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital, and went on to fellowship training in sports medicine at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. He speaks English and Albanian.
Outside of clinic Dr Meta enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, basketball, golf, and time outdoors with family. He also serves as a team physician for the Saint Paul Saints, the Minnesota Twins, and local schools, which gives him a firsthand understanding of the demands athletes face during injury and recovery.
